Very neat rounded shrub 2.5-3.0m height. Width 2.0-3.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate fast. Use for shelter, screen, hedge and specimen. Any soils wet or dry. Full sun to part shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant. Moderately wind firm. White flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required.

Features: Bird attracting.

 

Melaleuca decussata 'Mauve Paperbark'

Origin: Vic, SA. Tasmanian provenance.

Dense rounded shrub 1.5-1.8m height. Width 2.0-2.5m. Evergreen. Growth rate fast. Use for shelter, screen, hedge and specimen. Any soils - wet or dry. Full sun to part shade - best flowering in full sun. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant. Very wind firm. Mauve flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required. Clips very well as a hedge.

Features: Bird attracting. Butterfly attracting.

Origin: NSW, Qld. Tasmanian provenance.

Very neat rounded shrub 2.5 height. Width 3.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate very fast. Use for screen, shelter, specimen. Any soils - wet or dry. Full sun to part shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant. Very wind firm. Lime green bottlebrush flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required- clips very well as a hedge.

Features: Masses of limegreen bottlebrush flowers. Bird and butterfly attracting.

Melaleuca ericifolia 'Swamp Paperbark'

Origin: Tas, Vic, NSW. Tasmanian provenance.

Large bushy shrub 3.0-4.0m height. Width 2.0-3.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate very fast. Use for shelter, screen, hedge and specimen. Any soils - very wet to very dry. Full sun to part shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant. Very wind firm. Pure white flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required.

Features: Bird attracting. Good bird nesting shrub. One of the hardiest native shrubs. Suits coastal conditions.

Features: Bird attracting - nectar feeders. Good bird nesting shrub. One of the hardiest native shrubs.

Melaleuca gibbosa 'Small Leaf Paperbark'

Origin: Tas, SA, Vic. Tasmanian provenance.

Dense rounded shrub 1.0-1.2m. Width 1.5-2.0m. growth rate very fast. Evergreen. Use for shelter, screen, hedge and specimen. Any soils wet or dry. Full sun to part shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant but will also take very wet conditions. Very wind firm. Purple flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required. Clips very well as a hedge.

Very drought tolerant. Very wind firm. orange-red flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required. Clips very well as a hedge.

Melaleuca linariifolia ' Snow in Summer'

Origin: East coast NSW, Southern Qld. Tasmanian provenance.

Very dense rounded large shrub to small tree 4.0-8.0m height. Width 3.0-4.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate fast with summer water, medium without. Use for screen, windbreak, hedge, specimen and avenues. Any soil. Will cope with wet feet. Vull sun. Very frost hardy - young plants can be tender. Very drought resistant once established. Very wind firm. White flowers in Summer. Prune as required for shape. Can be clipped as a hedge.

Features: Often has showy pink or red young growth. Source of most commercial tea tree oil.

Melaleuca pallida 'Lemon Bottlebrush' (was Callistemon pallidus)

Origin: Tas, Vic, NSW. Tasmanian provenance.

Dense columnar shrub 2.5-3.0m height (can be taller). Width 2.0-2.5m. Evergreen. Growth rate fast. Use for screen, windbreak, hedge and specimen. Any soil - wet or dry. Full sun to partial shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought resistant once established. Very wind firm. Yellow flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required- can be clipped as a hedge.

Features: Bird attracting - honey eaters and parrots. Butterfly attracting. Good honey species. Young growth pink/red.

Very neat rounded shrub 2.5-3.0m height. Width 2.0-3.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate fast. Use for shelter, screen and specimen. Any soils including very dry. Full sun to part shade. Very frost hardy. Very drought tolerant. Very wind firm. Pale yellow flowers in Spring. Pruning not required.

Features: Bird attracting. Very highly perfumed. Threatened Tasmanian species.

Very dense conical small tree 4.0-8.0m height. Width 3.0-4.0m. Evergreen. Growth rate medium. Use for screen, windbreak, hedge, specimen and avenues. Any soil - will cope with wet feet. Full sun. Very frost hardy. Very drought resistant once established. Very wind firm. White flowers in Summer. Prune as required for shape. Can be clipped as a hedge.

Features: Very ornamental and useable papery bark. Ornamental white trunk.

 

Melaleuca virens (syn.Callistemon viridflorus) 'Mountain Bottlebrush'

Origin: Tasmanian endemic species.

Rounded small shrub 1.5m-2.0m (occasionally taller). Growth rate moderate. Evergreen. Use for screen, windbreak, hedge and specimen planting. Any soil - wet or dry. Full sun to part shade. Extremely frost hardy. Moderately drought tolerant. Very wind firm. Flowers in Spring and Summer. Prune as required - can be clipped as a hedge.

Features: Good honey species. Young growth pink/red. Bird attracting - honey eaters and parrots. Butterfly attracting.
