Fertilise with blood and bone or manure. Part shade to heavy shade (will just tolerate full sun). Moderately frost hardy. Will recover from damage from severe frosts. Keep moist but will survive dry periods.

Features: Ideal for gaps between rocks. Good border in ferneries. Can be brought indoors for short periods.

Cyathea australis 'Rough Tree Fern'
Slow growing treefern tolerant of wet or poorly drained soils. It has a large rough trunk which is thickened at the base by wiry dark- brown roots. Fronds can grow to 4 metres. Does best in full sun.

Hardy terrestrial fern growing 5.0 -10m tall.
As a garden specimen it will usually only reach a height of 3.0m.

Requires well drained soil and moist ground and benefits from regular fertilisation. Part sun, part shade. Good tub specimen
